Description
The P-47D Thunderbolt appeared in the latter stages of World War II, becoming the U.S. Army's main fighter alongside the P-51 Mustang. With its large, sturdy airframe and powerful 2,000 horsepower engine, the P-47D embodied the image of a powerful and luxurious fighter-bomber in the quintessentially American style, even the Royal Air Force (RAF) highly praised its performance.
The RAF adopted the first production model, the "Razorback," as the Thunderbolt Mk.I, and the later production model, the "Bubbletop," as the Thunderbolt Mk.II. The RAF selected the Thunderbolt for its high performance and toughness, and it saw action primarily in the Indo-Burma campaign toward the end of the war. This

This kit features two "Bubble Top" Thunderbolt Mk.IIs equipped with teardrop-shaped windscreens. The markings include two aircraft that fought on the Burma front and two that trained in North Africa in anticipation of tropical combat. What's more, each of these four markings features a different paint style. The markings offer a variety of options, including the standard gray camouflage of RAF fighters, a brown camouflage that conveys the harshness of the Burma front, an unpainted silver reminiscent of US aircraft, and the intimidating special paint job of the training unit commander's aircraft. The
RAF Thunderbolts are said to have performed to the fullest in climates and operating environments far more hostile than those of the European front, and this two-aircraft set showcases their rugged charm.
