Description
The EA-18G Growler was developed by the U.S. Navy as a successor to the Grumman EA-6B Prowler and has been in service since 2009.
Developed based on the F/A-18 Super Hornet fighter, this electronic warfare aircraft has a crew of two: the pilot and a Weapons Systems Officer (WSO) in the rear seat.
It is equipped with advanced electronic warfare equipment, including the AN/ALQ-99 Tactical Jamming System and the ALQ-227 Communications Jamming System. It is powered by two General Electric F414-GE-400 turbofan engines, achieving a top speed of nearly Mach 1.8.
VAQ-129, nicknamed the Vikings, also operates the EA-18G Growler, primarily for training electronic warfare personnel.
In 2011, a special livery was produced to commemorate the 100th anniversary of U.S. Naval Aviation, attracting considerable attention.
[About the Product]
This is a plastic model assembly kit depicting the EA-18G Growler, a U.S. Navy electronic warfare aircraft in service since 2009.
The parts are manufactured by Italeri and are 1/48 scale. The finished length is 381mm. Its impressive size and distinctive form are accurately recreated.
The various equipment mounted under the wings and under the fuselage are also realistically modeled, creating a voluminous finish.
The kit also includes a dedicated masking sheet for convenient painting of the canopy frame. The large tandem cockpit canopy allows for precise painting, enhancing the quality of the finish.
The markings, which were added to commemorate the U.S. Navy's 100th anniversary of aircraft operations in 2011, recreate the color scheme used on U.S. Navy carrier-based aircraft from the 1930s and 1940s.
The decals are made by Cartograf, a high-quality manufacturer.
