Birmingham is a US Navy cruiser and the sixth Cleveland-class light cruiser. The ship is named after Birmingham, Alabama. Launched in 1941, launched in 1942, commissioned in 1943, and incorporated into the Atlantic Fleet to support the Sicilian landing operation (Operation Husky).
