Description

      The M1 tank, a representative tank of the modern US Army, entered service in 1981. In 1985, the M1A1 was deployed, featuring reinforced armor and a 120mm smoothbore gun for increased firepower.

      The M1A2, an improved version of the A1, began production and modification in the late 1990s. It boasts enhanced defensive capabilities and updated electronics such as GPS, communication networks, and operational command data links. It also features an independent thermal imaging system for the commander to improve night combat capabilities.

      The TUSK (Tank Urban Survival Kit), which appeared in the mid-2000s, is a field-modifiable defensive kit for urban combat that adds mine-resistant armor and reactive armor, as well as shields on the loader's hatch and machine gun on the turret.
