Description

The AH-64A Apache is an all-weather attack helicopter of the United States Army. Developed as a successor to the AH-1 Cobra, the Apache is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment. The nose is fitted with a targeting sight that can also display the terrain to the pilot even at night or in bad weather . The Apache's offensive armament consists of a 30mm chain gun mounted on the underside of the nose and Hellfire missiles for attacking tanks. The chain gun is linked to the gunner's helmet sight (a device for aiming from the helmet) so that it is aligned with the gunner's orientation. This system allows for more accurate firing.
